Complacency

I forced myself to sit in the bath as it drained, to feel a bit

like the earth, thirsty and diminishing. Water swirled down

as I became colder & exposed. The empty bowl of the tub

brimmed with the resonance of shuddering. This must be

how a dying planet feels: overfull with humanity, quaking

as if forced to sit wet & witness.
